What Happens When You Delete Your Tinder Account Instead?
That one is permanent. Tinder says messages, matches, photos and your Verification badge can't be restored — even if you log in again within 90 days.
The path is Settings, scroll to the bottom, Delete Account. Read that warning twice before you tap it. Every conversation you were mid-way through is gone. Every match who hadn't messaged yet is gone. The photos you uploaded come off the profile.
There is no undo button, no archive, no support ticket that puts it back. If you are deleting out of frustration rather than because you are genuinely finished, screenshot anything you want to keep — a name, a number, a conversation you meant to move to text — before you confirm.

Can You Get a Deleted Tinder Account Back?
Partly, maybe, and never your matches. Tinder documents a limited restore it describes as being tested in select markets, covering basic profile information only.
Where it applies, signing up again within 90 days using your previous credentials may restore details such as your name, age and gender. Notice what is not on that list. Matches are not on it. Messages are not on it. Photos are not on it. The restore is a convenience for rebuilding a profile, not a rescue for the conversations that lived on it.
After 90 days, you start completely fresh regardless.
One thing not to do: do not treat deletion as a way around a ban. Tinder says a banned account cannot create new accounts. And for an ordinary deletion, Tinder documents no official waiting period before signing up again — so ignore anyone quoting you a specific number of days as though it were a rule.

What Does Turning Off Discovery Do — the Hide-Without-Deleting Option?
Discovery is the closest thing Tinder has to a pause. Switch it off and new people stop seeing you, while your existing matches stay intact.
You will find it under your profile icon, then Settings, as the Enable Discovery toggle. Switch it off and three documented things happen: you are no longer shown as a recommendation to new people, you stop seeing new recommendations, and you cannot Like anyone new.
What does not happen is the interesting part. You keep every match. You can still open them, read them and keep chatting. Nothing is deleted.
One non-obvious detail: people you Liked before you turned Discovery off can still see your profile and Like you back, so new matches can still land while you are hidden. Hidden is not sealed.

Does Deleting Tinder Cancel Your Subscription?
No, and this one costs people real money. Uninstalling the app won't cancel a subscription, and deleting your account won't cancel an active one either.
The billing relationship sits with whoever took your payment, and that is usually not Tinder. Cancel it where you bought it:

That is a legitimate fix for a legitimate class of problem: the software misbehaving. A blank conversation list, matches that won't render, a screen stuck spinning, a feature that won't respond. Tinder treats a reinstall as routine, and so should you. Try the cheaper step first — log out, log back in — and only then delete and reinstall, signing in with the same credentials.
What a reinstall does not fix is a profile people are scrolling past. If your matches are slow rather than missing, that is not a software fault. Your photos. A reinstall re-downloads the same lead photo that was not working before, because the app delivers and your photos persuade.
